The Africa We Want e.V Network serves as a central hub and platform for fostering unity, empowerment, and development within the African community in Germany and beyond. Its activities focus on addressing the needs of Africans and Afro-descendants, promoting cultural exchange, and fostering sustainable relationships between Africa and Germany.

The African migrant is the last wave of migrant compared to other migrant communities who are already established in Germany, the African community faces huge hurdles and challenges integrating into a new cultural structure which is extremely opposite to theirs. The Germans administration as well as individuals have issues dealing with Africans. The lack of knowledge of each-others cultures, require a strategic solution. Our solution has been the establish of a strong structure that brings both German and Africans together, to connect, learn, dialogue and get to start knowing each other.

What we do: Organize impactful festival, bringing the German and African community together as well addressing the needs of Africans in Germany through support services offered during the festival days.

As Advocates of the African community, engaging with German authorities and institutions to represent the interests of Africans in policymaking and ensure their voices are heard and seen has been our priority with the festivals since its creation in 2007

Our festivals serve as a hub for Information, contact and connections; assisting both the newcomers and existing with questions regarding integration, language, housing, understanding German laws and systems, life in Germany, skills, vocational education, health, employment, and entrepreneurship opportunities, legal support for individuals facing racial discrimination or systemic challenges. Acting as a bridge between the African diaspora, German society, and African governments to foster mutual understanding and cooperation.

Engage the community in creating awareness about their daily challenges as well as mobilize resources to their advantage. By addressing issue of identity and culture, the festivals serve as preservation of their African identity, especially for children born and raised in Germany without a knowledge of their roots. African music, Art, fashion, food, and traditions are cultural tools used to teach children our children about Africa.

As we gather to celebrate the festivals 25th Edition, we intend to engage and support partnership by collaborating with schools and institutions to introduce African history, art, and literature into curricula. We also working on producing documentaries and preserving the stories, traditions, and artifacts of the African diaspora in Germany as well as strengthen by facilitating connections between African entrepreneurs and investors, both in Germany and abroad through our African market project of the festival, enhancing African businesses with opportunities to showcase their products on our festival – African market and our digital platforms
