PIDA WEEK 2024 – Interconnecting Integration & Transformation

The 8th Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA) Week, kicked-off on 26 November 2024 at the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa. The high-level gathering was held under the theme “Fostering Resilient and Inclusive Infrastructure for Africa’s Sustainable Growth: Leveraging Transformative Financing and Regional Integration.”
We kicked off this transformative week with a vibrant welcome dinner that celebrated African unity and development. The event brought together government officials, business leaders, and development partners, all committed to enhancing infrastructure across the continent. 🎉
From Day One to Four PIDA WEEK 2024 was filled with strategic conversations on Africa’s infrastructure development, featuring high-profile speakers and engaging panel discussions. Key highlights included:
1️⃣ Emphasis on regional integration through transport, energy, water, and ICT.
2️⃣ Innovative solutions for public-private partnerships and financing mechanisms.
3️⃣ A focus on youth engagement in infrastructure planning and implementation.
4️⃣ Networking opportunities showcasing successful infrastructure projects and sustainable solutions.
PIDA Week 2024 was all about collaboration, innovation, and inclusivity as we work together to unlock Africa’s potential!
In his remarks during the opening session, H.E. President Taye Atske-Selassie, emphasized the critical role of infrastructure in driving economic growth and regional integration in Africa. He also underscored the need to reaffirm commitment to putting in place resilient infrastructure development that would benefit all.
Minister of Transport and Logistics, H.E. Dr. Alemu Sime, in his welcoming remarks also highlighted Ethiopia’s ongoing infrastructure projects and the commitment of the Government to regional connectivity through accelerated infrastructure development.
This year’s PIDA Week was being hosted by the Government of Ethiopia and co-organised by the AUDA-NEPAD, the African Union Commission, United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and African Development Bank, among others. The event brought together key stakeholders across the continent and beyond that will be deliberating on ways of boosting infrastructure development in the continent.

PIDA WEEK 2024 ended with a visit from PIDA WEEK delegation to the Ethio Green Mobility Exhibition, a tour to the Adwa Victory Memorial Museum and the Addis Ababa Corridor development Projects.
