Julius Nyerere 1963:The Banyamulenge are not immgrants to ZAIRE, they are NOT!!!

The Kingdom of Rwanda was partitioned between the Germans and the Belgians, the belgian took a part of the traditional kingdom of Rwanda, together with the people. So when we said respect that border which was agreed between the Belgians and the Germans, we must also say respect the people whom you received under that partition, you can turn around and say, we no longer want you, that you are no longer citizens of our country, what are you going to do? Are you going to return them alone or are you going to return them with the piece of land? You can”t say go home, go where? we couldn’t in Tanzania get fed up with the Massia and say to the Massia go home to Kenya, Kenya is not their home, they are the Massia of Tanzania and my friend Moye kante for some reason or another had fed up with the massia of Kenya and said go back to Tanzania, it’s not back to Tanzania, they have never been in Tanzania, they have always been there. Their country was partitioned between the British and the Germans and part of them went to deutsche African and part of them to British East Africa, so they are Kenyans, they are not Tanzanians and our Massia are Tanzanians, they are not Kenyans, if we want them to live under the same flag, Kenya and Tanzania should federate. That is the only way we can put the massia under then same flag. so that is the problem in ZAIRE, the problem of the Banyamulenge!
