Afrika Festival Tübingen Academy – AFTA

From a Festival to an Institution

What started as a grassroots celebration of African culture has grown into a powerful cultural and educational institution. The Afrika Festival Tübingen Academy in Germany is born from the legacy of the Afrika Festival Tübingen—Europe’s largest and longest-running African diaspora festival. The Academy stands as a permanent hub for African knowledge, creativity, and media empowerment.

Our Mission

The Academy is dedicated to shaping a new generation of African storytellers, artists, journalists, and cultural leaders. Rooted in Pan-African values and built on two decades of community building, the Academy shall provides tools, training, and its platforms for Africans and friends of Africa to  preserve the African heritage, and build a sustainable future.

No one person, no one organization, can carry the continent forward alone. This next phase of The Africa We Want is an invitation—not to spectators, but to builders. To African diaspora professionals in Europe: your expertise is needed.
To donors and partners: your support is not charity, it’s solidarity.
To artists, teachers, and elders: your wisdom is our compass.
To young people: this is your time, your space, your future to shape.
