To illustrate the transformative power of empowering women, particularly girls in rural and conflict-affected areas, fund my organization – The Africa we want organization, with you, I want to put an end by addressing challenges faced by women in conflict areas with emphasis on my home land – Bamenda – Cameroon
I have carefully selected three emergency Campaign sectors – Education, Finance and Security!
1) Bamenda girls: Education for Girls in Bamenda- Rural Africa
Focus counties: Momo, Mezam, Bui, Menchum, Ngoketunjia, Boyo and Ndonga Mantung
Challenge: Lack of access to education for Bamenda girls in rural areas.
Solution: TAWWN aim to provide quality education for Bamenda girls in rural communities, focusing on keeping girls in school by addressing barriers such as school fees, menstrual hygiene, and cultural factors that often pull girls out of school. TAWWN seeks to provides scholarships, community-based mentorship programs, and post-graduation support to ensure that girls can not only complete their education but also transition into economic independence.
Goal: Support Bamenda girls attend school across the seven regions of Bamenda, Ensure financial independence for Bamenda girls who complete our TAWWN program, become active workforce and multiple
TAWWN program involves training young women as community leaders who go on to mentor and guide others, creating a ripple effect in their communities.
2. Bamenda Girls finance and Economic Empowerment Fund
Solve the challenge of limited access to capital for Bamenda Girls to start or grow businesses.
Model; TAWWN model is based on lending small amounts of money to Bamenda Girls with no collateral, coupled with support for financial literacy.
Goal: Support Bamenda Girls start small businesses, such as farming, selling crafts, or running local markets.
Enable Bamenda Girls to create wealth and reinvest in their families and communities, lifting them out of poverty.
Scale up agricultural production, significantly increasing local food security.
3. Bamenda Girls’ Safe Spaces in Conflict Crisis
Challenge: High rates of violence and exploitation of Bamenda girls in the ongoing conflict
Solution: TAWWN is establishing a safe spaces for Bamenda girls in Bamenda. these spaces offer psychological support, and empowerment programs. Bamenda girls can access TAWWN skills training, counselling and community leadership opportunities.
Impact: Empower Bamenda girls with safe spaces and access to critical services during the ongoing conflict
To rebuild lives, accessing economic opportunities through skills training and small business development.
Provide legal education to Bamenda girls facing exploitation or abuse, ensuring that their rights are protected
TAWWN Bamenda Girl Project is set to be launched during the 25 Edition of Afrika Festival Tübingen in Germany June 05 – 08, 2025 and shall set as a guide to the transformative power of empowering grils, particularly in rural and conflict zones. By addressing key barriers such as education, economic exclusion, healthcare access, and safety, TAWWN programs shall significantly improved the lives of Bamenda girls, families, and the mezam communities. The ripple effects of Bamenda girls empowerment shall lead a stronger economy, healthier society and more peaceful Bamenda Empowering a Bamenda girl is not just a matter of gender equality; it’s about enhancing the values of Panafricanism, an essential investment in the future of Africa, The Africa we want!
