Germany Expands Schengen Visa Access with New Application Centres

Germany has launched four new Schengen visa application centres across Nigeria, Cameroon, and Cyprus in a bid to improve access and streamline the application process for travellers.
The new centres aim to reduce waiting times, bring services closer to applicants, and enhance the overall efficiency of visa processing—particularly in regions where demand for Schengen visas to Germany is high.

In Nigeria, the expansion will help accommodate one of the largest volumes of Schengen visa applications in Africa, while in Cameroon, the move is expected to significantly ease the burden on existing facilities in Yaoundé and Douala. The inclusion of Cyprus reflects Germany’s commitment to ensuring broader geographical coverage for its visa services.

This initiative comes alongside Germany’s broader efforts to outsource and modernise its visa handling procedures, part of a global trend among Schengen states to meet growing travel demand.
